2-1 victory by the Los Angeles Dodgers to sweep the Colorado Rockies in the NLCS by Jack Harris When it mattered most, the bottom of the Dodgers' lineup delivered once more in the ninth inning. The bottom three hitters once again set the stage in the ninth inning for the Dodgers 2-1 walk-off win against the Colorado Rockies. It wasn't until Craig Kimbrel's ninth inning shutout kept the score tied that Cody Bellinger singled and then advanced on a base hit by Gavin Lux.

Pinch-hitter Will Smith walked to put runners on the corners in the next at-bat. As a result, the Rockies' infield of five players failed to get an out on Mookie Betts' game-winning infield single. After sweeping the Rockies in three games, the Dodgers improve to 52-29 overall.

A single by Brendan Rodgers in the sixth inning was the only hit allowed by Dodgers starter Mitch White and three relievers. A pair of back-to-back singles from Bellinger and Gavin Lux sparked the ninth inning. Bellinger advanced to third on a Lux bleeder to the open left side of the infield with the shift on.

Once Garrett Hampson was brought in as a replacement for Kris Bryant, the Rockies went with a five-man infield, leaving only Kris Bryant and Charlie Blackmon to cover the outfield. Betts had nobody out when pinch-hitter Will Smith walked to put the bases loaded.

Bard was hit in the head with a bouncer by Betts (3-3). With his momentum carrying him toward first base, shortstop José Iglesias couldn't handle the ball cleanly as he attempted a quick play to the plate from first base.

Los Angeles' record in one-run games improved to 5-8 thanks to Bellinger's quick dash to the plate. Betts' first walk-off home run for the Dodgers came in this game. In the ninth inning, Craig Kimbrel (2-4) returned to the Los Angeles closer role after being hit in the back by a line drive last week.

A runner was on first and another was second when Jake Lamb took a called third strike to end the eighth for the Dodgers, who finished with nine hits overall. In the seventh inning, Los Angeles drew level at 1-1. Bellinger and Lux both hit back-to-back singles, and Austin Barnes was hit in the back by a pitch from Jake Bird to put the bases loaded. Before Betts grounded out, Bird threw a wild pitch that resulted in a run for Bellinger.

The Rockies took a 1-0 lead in the sixth inning after failing to get a hit off White in the previous five. A throwing error by Bellinger allowed Bryant to score after he had already walked and singled to centre. In 5 2/3 innings, White allowed one unearned run. With six strikeouts and four walks, the right-hander threw 102 pitches for the first time in the season. In 6 2/3 innings, Rockies starter José Urea gave up one run on five hits. With two strikeouts and three walks, the righty made his major league debut after being promoted from Triple A-Albuquerque earlier that day.

Room for the Trainer

The Los Angeles Dodgers are the OF. For the second time in his professional career, Chris Taylor was placed on the injured list due to a fracture in the arch of his left foot. "It's a safe bet" Taylor won't be back before the All-Star break, according to manager Dave Roberts. A swollen Taylor left Monday's game because of an injury he suffered over the weekend.... RHP There will be 25 pitches thrown by Blake Treinen (right shoulder) Thursday.

NEXT UP

LHP for the Rockies. In the first of a four-game series, Arizona will send out Austin Gomber (4-7, 6.53 ERA) to the mound. After two appearances in relief, he returned to the rotation last week. His record against the Diamondbacks is 2-0 with a 4.67 ERA.

Dodgers: Right-handed pitcher On Thursday, the Cubs will face Tony Gonsolin (10-0, 1.54). In terms of earned run average, he is the best in the league.
